Coach Bio - How and why I became a coach
It all started with a bit of walking to lose some weight - I would walk to work while listening to music.

The next step was to join a walking group at the Running Room in High Park where I learned about walking in timed events and races.

After that I became a walk instructor for Running Room where I had the pleasure of working with and motivating hundreds of walkers to help them reach 5km, 10km, half and full marathon, and 60km Weekend to End Breast Cancer goals.  During this time I also participated in these events.

I then took a racewalking clinic with Dave McGovern in order to learn more about race walking and to hone my technique and speed - I have since managed a 36 minute 5km and a 1:14 10km as my speediest race paces.

My longest distance competetively has been the 30km Around the Bay in Hamilton in March of 2007.

Since the spring of 2005 I have been the walk coach for the Toronto Chapter of Team in Training - the endurance team program in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada and I have LOVED every moment of this life changing experience.

Most recently, in preparation for what will be my most gruelling endurance experience to date - The Great Wall of China half marathon - I have begun to add running to the mix to help build my cardio fitness, my strength and to hopefully lose more weight.

My first running event will be the 10km Oasis Zoo run in October of 2007.
